Chanelle Baker I Special Education Teacher

Ms. Baker received her Bachelors of Science in Business Management from Bentley University and her Masters in Education from Boston University. As an educator, her mission is to provide all students with a foundation on which they can develop academically and socially for the world and society beyond. Ms. Baker believes that creative expression is vital in building the whole child, which is why she loves incorporating STEP, tap dance, and Hip Hop into the work that she does.


Devin Baker I Special Education Teacher

Ms. Baker grew up in Jacksonville, FL. She went to Centre College in Danville, KY where she studied Art History and Spanish. Outside of work, she likes to play lacrosse, attend concerts, and travel.


Corryn Barter I Physics Teacher

Ms. Barter grew up in Tucson, AZ. She attended George Washington University in Washington, DC where she studied Political Science and Public Health. Before Match, she was in DC finishing her degree and volunteering in schools. In her downtime, Ms. Barter enjoys kayaking, hiking, and cooking.

Jonathan Bassett I 10th Grade History Teacher

Mr. Bassett grew up in Brookline and has a BA in history from Columbia and a Master’s in Teaching from Brown. He has been a history teacher for a very long time, having taught in the South Bronx and Boston suburbs before coming to Match. He has taught all high school grades, and pretty much every history subject, including AP courses. When he's not teaching or reading history, Mr. Bassett likes to cook, ride his bicycle, and race sailboats.

Patricia Battle I Nurse

Ms. Battle grew up in Belmont and has lived in Boston and Brookline. She studied Nursing at Simmons College and Public Health at Columbia University. Outside of work, she likes to attend theater, art shows, create art, travel, and visit museums.

Christina Bernal I Associate Director of Operations

Ms. Bernal graduated from Match High School in 2010 and then earned her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University. Although she pursued a degree in Criminal Justice, she had a strong passion to work at Match in the hopes of being a positive support to students, just as she experienced while she was a student. In 2014, she started her professional career at Match as an Instructional Aide and has since worked in various roles on the high school operations team. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her children, family, and friends.


Molly Betterton I Speech-Language Pathologist

Ms. Betterton grew up in Venice, Florida. She attended the University of Florida and received her B.S. in Health Science in 2017. She received her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Emerson College in Boston. She has been with Match since 2022 and enjoys working with Match middle and high schoolers on their speech and language goals. In her free time, she enjoys reading, working out, and exploring Boston.

Ms. Chappell grew up in Farmington, CT. She attended Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA where she studied Creative Writing, French & Chinese. In her free time she likes to try new foods, write poetry, and do-it-yourself projects.

ISHRAT CHOWDHURY I CHEMISTRY TEACHER

Ms. Chowdhury grew up in Boston. She graduated from Boston University with a BA in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a minor in Anthropology. As as teacher, she likes to share 'alkynes' of science jokes with her students. In her free time, she enjoys trying new foods, running, and drawing cartoons.

Pedro Diaz Sokolski I AP Spanish Teacher

Mr. Diaz graduated from law school at University of Carabobo (Valencia-Venezuela), where he worked in family law and corporate law for over 8 years. After moving to the United States, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University, but his real passion is teaching. Prior to Match, he worked as a tutor at Northeastern University; adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Social Work of Simmons College; high school teacher at Boston Public Schools; and a Spanish heritage teacher at Chelsea High School. In his free time, he enjoys singing classical music with the New World Chorale, traveling, movies and photography.

Stephanie Dodge I ASL Aide

Ms. Dodge grew up in Stow, MA. She attended both Quinsigamond Community College for general studies, and Framingham State University for ASL Interpreting. She grew up wanting to work in education, and in her role she wants to open doors for students to learn new things about their classmates. Outside of work, Ms. Dodge enjoys theater, reading, and hockey.

Ms. Farkas grew up in West Michigan. She has a BA in Classics and minors in Anthropology and Archaeology from Grand Valley State University, as well as an MAT in Latin and Classical Humanities from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In her free time, Ms. Farkas enjoys playing video games, hanging out with friends and her cats, and rock climbing with her husband.


Isabel Galgano I language Acquisition Teacher

Ms. Galgano grew up in Richmond, VA and attended the University of Virginia where she earned a double bachelor's in English (with a concentration in poetry writing) and Political Science. Following graduation, Ms. Galgano served with AmeriCorps in North Carolina, teaching high school creative writing. In her free time, Ms. Galgano loves to go for runs outside, cook with friends, and travel to new places.


Joey Gallagher I Principal

Mr. Gallagher spent 10 years studying, living, and working in Wisconsin before joining Match High School. While in Milwaukee, Mr. Gallagher was a high school special education teacher and served as a founding school leadership team member for two new middle schools. He completed his Masters in Urban Special Education at Cardinal Stritch University as well as his Masters in Educational Leadership through a principal prep program at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Mr. Gallagher has also served as an adjunct instructor and advisor for the graduate education programs at Alverno College, Cardinal Stritch University, and the Relay Graduate School of Education. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, cycling, traveling, and practicing yoga.

Warren Garris I 9th Grade Composition Teacher

Mr. Garris hails from Greensboro, NC and graduated with his Bachelor's from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a double major in History and Romance Languages. Then he received his Master's in Education from Harvard. Prior to Match, Mr. Garris was at Roxbury Prep Charter School where he taught Composition, Literature, and History. In his free time, he enjoys dodgeball, reading, learning about the planets, and watching high-quality dramas like Pretty Little Liars.

Ms. Gould grew up in Framingham, MA. She received her undergraduate degree in Special Education from High Point University and an M.S. Ed - Severe Disabilities from Simmons University. Prior to Match, she worked with worked with individuals with autism at NECC. In her free time, she loves spinning, the beach, and hanging out with family and friends.


Lisa Gozbekian I Alumni Counselor

Ms. Gozbekian grew up in the greater Boston area and attended UMass Amherst where she studied Cultural Anthropology and Education. Before Match, she helped run Odyssey Teen Camp and the Boys and Girls Club. Outside of work she likes to listen to music, hike, make pottery, and comedy.


Meg Hackett I Director of Special Education

Ms. Hackett grew up in Pennsylvania. She received a Bachelors of Art in 2007 from Salisbury University, and in 2011 she graduated with her Master's in Education from Penn State University. She is passionate about creating equitable pathways to resources and has worked in Special Education for 15 years, ages birth through adulthood. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, eating delicious food, and growing a green thumb.


Jermaine Hamilton I Assistant Principal

A Boston native and a long-time special educator, Mr. Hamilton earned a dual undergraduate degree from Brandeis University. After graduation he joined Teacher for America and taught full time while earning his Master’s in Education at Boston University. Prior to Match, he served as a middle school administrator for five years. In his free time, Mr. Hamilton enjoys basketball, theatre arts, traveling, and spending time with family.

Noemiley Higgins I Student Support Coordinator (G6-12)

Mrs. Higgins graduated from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and minor in Spanish and Education. Prior to Match, she worked at Roxbury Prep as the Director of Individual Needs for the Mission Hill campus. In her six years at Roxbury Prep, Mrs. Higgins also served as an instructional coach, learning specialist and taught several enrichment classes including yoga, botany, and zumba. When she isn't teaching, she loves fishing, yoga, going on adventures, and spending time with friends and family.

Elsie Huang I AP Calculus Teacher

Ms. Huang most recently spent a dozen years at Boston Preparatory Charter Public School, where she was a founding teacher. During her tenure, she taught a variety of subjects, including math, science, art and ethics. She also assumed leadership roles as the math department chair and high school principal. Prior to Boston Prep, she was a middle and high school teacher at an independent school in Washington, D.C. for two years, and she was a founding teacher at another Boston charter in its inaugural year. Ms. Huang earned her B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Andrew Jarboe I 11th Grade History Teacher

After graduating from Bates College with a degree in History in 2005, Dr. Jarboe joined Teach for America and taught history for three years at the middle and high school levels in Harlem, NY, while also earning his Masters in Teaching. In 2011, while completing his doctoral dissertation, he joined the faculty at Roxbury Prep Charter School. After four years teaching eighth grade US History, he joined the founding faculty at Roxbury Prep High School where he taught AP US History and ninth grade US History.

Dr. Jarboe is also an Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music. He is passionate about teaching history as he believes that a rigorous history education has the potential to empower young people to more meaningfully engage with the present.


Mary Jean I 9th Grade English Teacher

For the past 12 years, Ms. Jean taught in Dorchester middle schools at Mother Caroline Academy and Roxbury Prep, Dorchester Campus. She loves reading, reality TV, painting, learning Haitian Creole, and doing puzzles. When not at work, she is most likely spending time with her son Levi, husband Scott, and two cats, Luna and Nova.

Nakia Johnson I 1-1 Aide

Ms. Johnson is a Boston Native, who grew up in Roxbury. She attended the University of Massachusetts Boston where she studied Psychology. Prior to Match, she worked in finance. Outside of work, she loves to travel and attend game nights and dinner parties.

Lauren Jones I English 12 & Senior Seminar Teacher

Ms. Jones is a graduate of Cornell University where she received a B.A. in English. She first came to Match in 2016-2017 as a member of Match Corps XIII, for which she worked as an English 9 teaching assistant, Comp 10 tutor, and Algebra 1 tutor. She always had a feeling that she wanted to be a teacher, but during her corps year at Match she realized just how much she loved working with young people. She returned to graduate school and earned an M.A.T. in Secondary English from Mount Holyoke College. Outside of teaching, Ms. Jones enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her friends, family, and cat.

Ms. Joseph is from Norwood MA, and attended Providence College where she got her B.A. in Social Sciences. Her passion for education came from her experience with City Year and as a math teacher. In her free time Ms. Joseph enjoys music, playing the violin, fitness, and baking.

Ms. Kallert graduated from Roger Williams University in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and minor in Spanish. Lauren earned her master’s degree in Moderate Disabilities from Boston College in 2015. Ashley LaCavalla I Director of College Counseling

Ms. LaCavalla is from Rockland County, NY. She spent her high school years in Lake Placid, NY and college years in Boston. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Boston College. She previously worked at The Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice in Downtown Brooklyn. In her free time Ms. LaCavalla loves to ride mountain bikes, run, watch Netflix, and relax with her family.


Esther Laguerre I Social Worker

Ms. Laguerre grew up in Cambridge. She received my B.A in Sociology, with a Psychology and Education minor, at the UMass Amherst. She also received her Master’s of Social Work degree at Simmons University. Prior to Match, she was a Co-Director at a camp in Cambridge. She loves having selfcare days, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.


Jeffrey Lazar I History Teacher

Mr. Lazar grew up in Milton, MA and graduated from Fordham University in New York City with a degree in history. He taught social studies in Philadelphia as a Teach for America corps member and earned a Master’s degree in Education at UPenn before returning to the Boston area to work at Phoenix Charter Academy in Chelsea. He is an avid Boston sports fan and attends Patriots home games.

Ms. Legrand is from Rockland County, NY. She attended SUNY Oswego where she got her degree in Adolescent Education and English. She loves to participate in local activities she's never tried before.


Nate Lewallen I Computer Science Teacher & Department Chair

Mr. Lewallen studied Neurobiology as an undergraduate at Portland State University in Oregon. He received his Masters in Education in 2010 as a member of the Donovan Urban Teaching Scholars program at Boston College. Previously he worked as a coach and consultant with i2 Learning where he developed project-based learning experiences such as STEM Week and MIT's Day of AI, and developed teacher-led professional learning networks with Teach Plus. Before joining Match, he taught in Boston Public Schools for 13 years. In his free time, Mr. Lewallen likes to play music, do all of the outdoor sports, and have dance parties with his daughters. 


Tiffany Lewallen I Director of Mental Health

Ms. Lewallen grew up in Northern California and graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in Psychology and Social Work. She moved across the country to work with Wediko Children’s providing therapeutic supports in the Boston Public Schools. She attended Boston College Graduate School of Social Work to earn her MSW. Ms. Lewallen has worked in a variety of settings and her clinical work has focused on treating the impacts of traumas, anxiety, depression, and perinatal emotional complications. In her free time, you can find her baking delicious treats, reading, hiking, coloring, listening to music, and petting cats.

Aldevino Lima I Assistant Principal

Mr. Lima is a graduate of the one and only Northeastern University. He received a BA in Spanish Literature and International Affairs, and he was also a member of the varsity men's basketball team. Before graduating, he studied abroad in Peru where he worked as an English tutor at the Peruvian Air Force Academy. Mr. Lima started at Match as a member of the middle school Match Corps, where he tutored students in Math and ELA. Since then he has served as an Instructional Aide, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal, as well as the boys’ varsity basketball coach. In his free time, Mr. Lima enjoys spending time with his three beautiful kids and coaching and playing basketball.


Lindsay Linton I Aide

Ms. Linton is from Boston, was raised in Stoughton, and is now living in Brookline. She initially went to school for Physical Therapy but is now pursuing her degree in Special Education. Before Match, she worked as a paraprofessional in Special Education. She enjoys dancing, singing, walking, music, and cooking.

James Lloyd I Director of Curriculum & Instruction

In 2013, Mr. Lloyd moved from Hawai'i to Boston pursue his love of teaching. He achieved a degree in mathematics from UMASS Boston before joining Match High School as a Match Corps tutor. In 2019, he earned his Master’s in Effective Teaching degree from The Charles Sposato Graduate School of Education.

Mr. Lloyd's perfect day involves going to the beach with his dog, Archer, in tow and spending the day swimming and reading either fiction novels or nerding out over new math research.

Ms. Luby grew up in northern New Jersey. She went to Providence College, where she studied Secondary Education and English. Prior to working at Match, she was a teacher at a preschool in New Jersey. Ms. Luby enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.

Ryan Mannion I Special Education Teacher

Mr. Mannion is originally from Baltimore but has lived in Boston for nearly a decade. He went to the University of Maryland, where he studied Biology and US History. After completing the Match Corps at the high school, he taught science for five years. In his spare time, Mr. Mannion reads, watches the Ravens, and hangs out with his two cats.

Sandra Marques I Operations Manager

Ms. Marques was born and raised in Cambridge and has been working for Boston charter schools for nearly two decades. Before joining Match, she was the office manager for the Edward Brooke Charter School in Roslindale for nine years. She has a strong passion for working with students and families. Ms. Marques has three children of her own but considers herself to be the school mom.


Shaneika Martin I Dean of Students

Ms. Martin is originally from St. Mary, Jamaica. She emigrated to Boston when she was 9 years old. She attended Bridgewater State University where she studied Psychology. In her free time, Ms. Martin likes to sing, binge watch Netflix, eat, and build memories with her family.


Elizabeth McGrady I Associate Teacher

Ms. McGrady is from Madison, CT and graduated from Bates College with a B.S. in Biology. She spent her summers working as a wilderness trip leader and camp counselor at a summer camp in Maine and now serves as the assistant director of the wilderness tripping program. Previously she worked as a pediatric medical assistant in Boston. In her free time, Ms. McGrady enjoys playing ice hockey, hiking, and watching Boston sports. 


Zachary Melisi I Environmental Science Teacher

Mr. Melisi grew up in Natick, MA. For his undergraduate degree, he attended Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH and earned a B.S. in Environmental Science. Mr. Melisi has worked in outdoor-based education for many years. He is an artist, storyteller, and lover of the fantastic and unusual.

Sam O’Connor-Chapman I Physical Education Teacher

Mr. O’Connor-Chapman was born and raised in Central New York, just outside of Syracuse. He earned a history degree from George Washington University. Prior to Match, he worked as a backcountry guide in Colorado. In his free time, Mr. O’Connor-Chapman enjoys, running, biking, reading, and spending time outside.

Christie Paul I Director of Operations

Ms. Paul has worked full-time at Match since 2006—first as a Match Corps member and then as the Alumni Director and Director of Operations. She does much of the behind-the-scenes work at Match and coordinates all of the calendars, schedules, and events for the school. Ms. Paul first started working at Match as an MCAS tutor during her freshman year of college at Boston University, where she earned her BA in Classical Studies and later her MBA in Nonprofit Management.

Sunjay Priyadarshan I 10th Grade Composition Teacher

Mr. Priyadarshan was born and raised in Massachusetts. He attended Bowdoin College in Maine to get his BA in Sociology. There he developed his interests in teaching, reading, writing, art, social issues, and nature. After college, he was a tutor at Match High School as part of MCXII. After his corps year, he attended Boston University to get his Master’s degree in teaching and then taught at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School before returning to Match. In his free time, Mr. Priyadarshan enjoys photography, buying new books (and reading them), and exploring new areas around Greater Boston.

FARAAZ RASHIDI I 9th Grade Math Teacher

Mr. Rashidi was born in the Bay Area, CA. He went to Pomona College in Claremont, CA and majored in Economics. Previously, he worked at various summer camps in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas. Outside of work, he likes to run, listen to music, watch basketball, and hang out with friends.


Lena Ravitch I Associate Teacher

Ms. Ravitch grew up outside Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. She was inspired to become a teacher after her year as a Match Corps tutor. In her free time, she likes to play video games, practice piano, and go on runs.

Angela Rossi I Match Corps Director

Angela earned her B.A. at Emmanuel College in Counseling and Health Psychology with a minor in music. She completed her senior year psychology internship at Match working with students on a wide range of life skills. Ms. Rossi is passionate about helping students build independent living and executive functioning skills that will boost their self-confidence and well-being. In her spare time, she enjoys playing music with friends, hiking, and traveling.


Benjamin Rozema I Building Based Educator

Mr. Rozema grew up in West Michigan. For undergrad, he attended Grand Valley State University where he earned a degree in Economics and Political Science. Upon graduation, he came to Boston as a Teach For America Corps Member where he worked for two years as a secondary mathematics teacher in East Boston. Mr. Rozema is also in the process of completing his Master's Degree in Education at Boston University. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, listening to music, reading, traveling, and trying new restaurants.

Erin Sampson I 10th Grade English Teacher

Ms. Sampson is a proud graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she received a BA in English, with a focus in creative writing, and minors in both Sociology and Education. At UMass, she worked at the Writing Center on campus, helping students not only develop their writing skills, but hone their written voice. After graduation, Ms. Sampson moved to Boston, joined the Match Corps, and has since received her Master’s in Effective Teaching degree from The Charles Sposato Graduate School of Education. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Sampson loves all competition; she can often be found playing and cheering on all sports, especially the Patriots. She also loves running, hiking, traveling, and a good brunch.


Tivisay Sanchez Baez I School Counselor

Ms. Sanchez Baez grew up in New York City. She went to Wheelock College for undergrad in Counseling and Cambridge College for a Master’s in School Adjustment Counseling and Mental Health Counseling. Prior to Match, she worked in schools and in-home therapy services. In her free time, she enjoys listening to Spanish music and traveling to new places.

Emmanuel Santana I College and Career Counselor

Mr. Santana was born and raised in Boston. He attended Denison University in Ohio. After graduating with a degree in Education, he started off his career at Match as a part of he middle school’s Match Corps. Since then, he has worked as a Dean of Students, the Tutor Coordinator, and Athletics Director before moving to the high school as a College and Career Counselor.


Andy Senka I Math Teacher

Mr. Senka grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and attended the University of Pittsburgh. He earned a degree in Education with a focus in Mathematics. Prior to Match, he spent nine years teaching middle and high school math in Richmond, VA. In his free time, he loves playing cards, cooking, golfing, and his dog, Shadow.

Bridget Serpe I History Teacher

Ms. Serpe has been at Match since 2018 where she started as a tutor in the AmeriCorps program before taking on a lead teaching role. She grew up in Long Island, NY until she attended UMass Amherst where she studied Sociology and Psychology. She also earned her Master’s in Effective Teaching from The Charles Sposato Graduate School of Education. Ms. Serpe started Match High School’s volleyball program and continues to coach the girls’ varsity team. In her free time, she likes playing beach volleyball and spending time with her friends and family.

Kyle Smith I Director of Curriculum AND INstruction

Mr. Smith grew up in Ashland, MA. He attended University of Vermont where he majored in English and minored in History and Philosophy. Prior to Match, he taught Science and History for seven years in New Orleans. He is a musician and creative writer in his spare time.


Kerry Sonia I Intern Counselor

Mx. Sonia grew up in Boston, graduated from Match, and then lived in Philadelphia for seven years. They majored in Peace and Conflict studies and Religion at Swarthmore College. In Philly, Mx. Sonia worked as a Social Worker in health care and homeless shelters. In their free time, they enjoys sports, reading, and listening to music.


Nora Sotomayor I Aide

Ms. Sotomayor is from Venezuela. She grew up in Caracas but lived in New York for seven years as a child. She attended Universidad Central de Venezuela and graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Her journey in education started with teaching English in Venezuela. In her free time, Ms. Sotomayor enjoys reading, singing in musicals, coloring books, stitching, walking, and swimming.


Asa Spencer I Language Acquisition Teacher

Mr. Spencer was born and raised in Northampton, MA. He attended Wheaton College in Illinois and studied sociology. Prior to Match, he taught middle school ESL for three years in Buffalo, NY. Outside of work, Mr. Spencer enjoys baseball, golf, reading, hiking.

Bess Thaler I 10th Grade Biology Teacher

Ms. Thaler has been teaching Biology at Match since 2008. Before coming to Match, she earned a BA in Biology from Wesleyan University, and then worked in ecology-related research in Connecticut and Scotland before returning to her home state of Massachusetts. She originally interned at Edward Brooke Charter School in Roslindale before getting her Master’s of Education at UMass Boston. Ms. Thaler lives with her husband, two daughters, and cat in Cambridge.


Tanya Williams I Inclusion Aide

Ms. Williams grew up in Boston. She studied Accounting and worked in the healthcare industry for 20+ years which included three major hospitals: BMC (BHCHP), MGH and New England Baptist Hospital. Ms. Williams also worked as a Mental Health Counselor at Judge Rotenberg.

In her spare time, she coaches youth basketball throughout the greater Boston area. Outside of coaching basketball, she loves shopping, cooking, traveling, listening to music, and spending time with her loved ones,
